Voula Papachristou won the first place and won the gold medal for her 14.60 metre triple jump at the European Championships in Berlin late on Thursday.
Papachristou dedicated her winning leap to the victims of last month’s deadly fires in Attica by pointing to a black ribbon that she wore.
This was the third gold medal and fourth overall for the Greece at the 24th European Track and Field Championship in Berlin, bringing the total number of Greek medals to 27, including 11 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze.
