The need to fight every type of hate and fanaticism was highlighted on the first day of the conference for the Viannos holocaust and German war reparations that took place in Heraklion, Crete, on Friday.
The start of the conference was announced by the regional governor of Crete Stavros Arnaoutakis, who highlighted its importance.
“The 75th anniversary of the Viannos holocaust and the execution of 461 heroes is an anniversary of remembrance and of an obligation to learn, to protect the accomplishments of the fighters, and honoring the victims,” he said.
