When he was 23 years-old, disguised as a Norwegian journalist, he went to Berlin to watch the Olympic Games and work with the german resistance under the name of Willy Brandt. In 1933, he left Germany for Norway to escape Nazi persecution and he permanently returned to Berlin in 1946 getting involved in politics. In 1957 as Berlin mayor, in 1964 as the chairman of SPD (Social Democratic Party) and finally in 1969 as a chancellor. |
